| 1979 | | The laser becomes important for TRUMPF. The company manufactures its first combination punch-laser machine, the TRUMATIC 180 LASERPRESS, using a laser purchased in the USA. Laser output at this time is between 500 and 750 watts. |

| 1981 | | The 1,000th TRUMATIC, of the type TRUMATIC 300, is delivered. |
