TRUMPF Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Monterrey, Mexico

FARMINGTON, Conn., March 21, 2007 – Today TRUMPF opens a new sales, service, demonstration and production facility in Monterrey, Mexico. The 6,400 sq. meter production building uses state-of-the-art TRUMPF equipment and manufacturing techniques to produce frames for TRUMPF machinery.

“A new production building built in the Apodaca Technology Park is a testament to the long history and bright future of Monterrey in the Mexican metal industry,” says Claudio Schutz, general manager of TRUMPF Mexico. “The project shows TRUMPF’s long-term commitment to the local growth and success of customers in Mexico.”

The company has invested more than $10 million dollars in the advanced manufacturing facility and sales and application center (including a 420 sq. meter showroom), which is open to Mexican fabricators and manufacturers for tours and technology demonstrations. TRUMPF equipment is used by quality-oriented manufacturers and sheet metal fabricators to make products for the automotive, aerospace, agricultural, medical, electronics and other industries.

“We plan to share our knowledge and expertise with the local fabricating industry with the hope that they too will benefit from the productivity and competitiveness created by our technology,” adds Schutz. “High-end technology is an economic multiplier that creates new business opportunities and jobs – not only for our company but also for other companies in the region.”

The TRUMPF Group is a privately-held company headquartered in Germany and recognized as the world leader in industrial laser production. In its last fiscal year, the company’s sales revenues grew to US $2.00 billion worldwide and the company reinvested $146 million into research and development.

“This new facility in Mexico strengthens our position in North America. The production facility also gives our Mexican customers the confidence that we are here and will remain here in the long term,” explains Peter Leibinger, vice chairman of the TRUMPF Group managing board and head of the TRUMPF’s laser and electronic division. “TRUMPF Mexico is part of the TRUMPF Group’s international manufacturing operations and, accordingly, is held to the same quality requirements and world-class standards.”
