For Stefanie Epple, development engineer at TRUMPF in Ditzingen, Germany, her job is close to her heart.

As a development engineer at TRUMPF, Stefanie Epple is responsible for thoroughly checking machines before they are sold and for optimizing them so that they meet the customer's requirements perfectly. TRUMPF machines are used, for example, to manufacture stoves, kitchen equipment, subway train cars, grills for barbecues – but also for blanks for ice skate blades, which the customer developed together with German speed skater Claudia Pechstein. Stefanie Epple is especially fond of this project because she is a passionate figure skater herself. Ever since she was a child, she has gone skating several times a week – even providing training and choreographing, too. "At some point, I said to my dad: One day I am going to work for myself and develop my own blades."

Good things come in small packages

In the past, Stefanie Epple had little time for technology. But, as she loves a challenge, she trained in a technical profession anyway. It was not always easy, especially at the beginning. Stefanie Epple can remember clients that were quite surprised when there was suddenly a young, blond, petite woman stood in front of them who was going to repair their machine. At such times, she needed a lot of courage to assert herself. But she was just as proud – if not more so – when she was able to help the customer.& "The great thing is that you are able to see the results of your work immediately."

Support from fantastic colleagues

In contrast to her customers, Stefanie Epple's superiors trusted in her from the start. This is something that she particularly appreciates at TRUMPF – she knows that her team and superiors are always behind her, providing her with support. This is something that has helped her to become confident today, so she travels to new customers happily, rather than with an uneasy feeling.

Trust on all levels

Today, Stefanie Epple wouldn't change her job for anything. She loves the fact that you can enjoy the advantages of working for a family company – such as the flexible working times and a company doctor – while benefitting from a great work atmosphere. A lot of trust is put in TRUMPF employees and the company does a lot for employee wellbeing.
