Procedure

Step 1: Analysis

  • Process parameters analysed, such as start and end temperature, surface quality, geometry, heating and cycle time, thermal isolation etc.
Step 2: Prepare the possible solutions

Laboratory testing: 

  • Boundary conditions defined and incorporated
  • Application tests prepared and set up
  • Power supply adjusted
  • Temperature measurement systems and control systems adjusted
  • Test inductor produced

Numerical simulation with COMSOL: 

  • 2D or 3D model created taking into account the component geometry and surrounding geometry
Step 3: Test phase and optimisation

Laboratory testing:

  • Test inductor adjusted and optimised
  • Electrical and thermal parameters defined
  • Inductor geometry defined

Numerical simulation with COMSOL: 

  • Calculations performed
  • Model adjusted and optimised
  • Field patterns created (temperature, magnetic field etc.)

Step 4: Implementation

  • Results documented
