With our wide range of metal powders, TRUMPF can also provide the perfect materials for your TruPrint 3D printing systems. We will gladly supply our high-quality metal powders made from aluminum, titanium, cobalt-chromium, nickel-based, or copper alloys, as well as stainless steels and tool steels, to suit your specific needs. As a result of our material experts' comprehensive expertise, all TRUMPF metal powders are optimized to ensure ideal LMF processes on TruPrint systems. To meet this quality promise over the long term, we conduct extensive powder and component analyses on an ongoing basis. The process parameters for the TruPrint systems have also been developed using our TruServices powders. As such, the TRUMPF powders, TRUMPF parameters, and TruPrint systems dovetail with one another to create the ideal basis for reliable LMF (laser metal fusion) processes.

Aluminum alloys

Aluminum AlSi10Mg-A LMF

Aluminum AlSi10Mg-A LMF is a pre-alloyed aluminum-based powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy 3.2381, and the chemical composition meets the requirements of the DIN EN 1706 standard.

  • Hardening und solidification through the precipitation of intermetallic phases (Mg2Si)

Aluminum AlSi12-A LMF

The pre-alloyed aluminum-based powder aluminum AlSi12-A LMF has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy 3.2582. They fulfil the requirements of the DIN EN 1706 standard as regards the chemical composition and exceed them in their strength and hardness. This alloy cannot be hardened.

Stainless steels

Stainless Steel 316L-A LMF

Stainless steel 316L-A LMF is a pre-alloyed powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the corrosion-resistant stainless steel 1.4404 (DIN X2CrNiMo17-12-2). They also fulfil the requirements of the DIN EN 10088-1 standard as regards their mechanical properties and chemical composition.

Characteristic properties:

  • Austenitic material with minimal conversion
  • High level of corrosion resistance due to chromium-enriched top layer
  • High level of toughness and ductility
  • No phase conversions
  • Precipitation only after long annealing times

Stainless Steel 630-A LMF

Stainless steel 630-A LMF is a pre-alloyed powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel 1.4542 (DIN X5CrNiCuNb17-4 or 17-4PH). They also fulfil the requirements of the DIN EN 10088-1 standard as regards their chemical composition.

Cobalt-chromium alloys

BEGO Mediloy S-Co

Mediloy S-Co is a powder which is made from a CoCr-based alloy and has been developed specifically for use in dental technology. Mediloy S-Co is a Class IIa medical product in accordance with the European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC. TRUMPF offers this product in collaboration with BEGO. Mediloy S-Co has been tested and certified specifically for LMF applications with TRUMPF parameters on TruPrint systems. The alloy also corresponds to the ISO 22674:2006 (Type 4) and EN ISO 9693-1 standards.

Cobalt-Chrome CoCr-B

CoCr-B LMF is a pre-alloyed CoCr powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. Parts created using this powder fulfil the requirements of the ASTM-F75-12 standard as regards their mechanical properties and chemical composition.

  • High level of corrosion resistance due to passivation layer made from chromium oxide

Bronze 90/10-A LMF

The pre-alloyed bronze powder Bronze 90/10-A LMF has been developed and tested for TruPrint systems. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the corrosion-resistant bronze alloy with material specification number ISO CuSn10 according to DIN EN 1982.

Characteristic properties:

  • High elongation
  • Good corrosion resistance

Nickel-based alloys

Nickel Alloy 718-A LMF

The nickel-based alloy 718-A LMF is a pre-alloyed nickel-based powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium steel 2.4668 (DIN NiCr19Fe19Nb5Mo3). They fulfil the requirements of the UNS N07718 / AMS5662 and AMS5664 standards as regards their mechanical properties. This alloy also has very good tensile, fracture, fatigue, and creep strength up to 650°C.

Characteristic properties:

  •  High level of oxidation resistance up to 1000°C
  • Solidification through formation of the γ‘’ phase (Ni3Nb)
  • Very good weldability due to resistance to strain-age cracking
  • Inertia of the γ‘’ precipitation promotes a reduction in residual stresses in the welding process

Titanium alloys

Titanium Ti2-A LMF

Titanium Ti2-A LMF is a pure titanium powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. Its chemical composition fulfils the requirements of the ASTM F76 standard. Components created using Ti2-ALMF have a very good strength-to-weight ratio and good ductility.

Titanium Ti64 ELI-A LMF

Titanium Ti64 ELI-A LMF is a pre-alloyed Ti6Al4V powder which has been designed and tested for use on TruPrint systems. Parts created using this powder fulfil the requirements of the ASTM F136 standard as regards their mechanical properties and chemical composition. Legal regulations need to be observed in most countries in order to use this powder as a medical product for commercial applications.

Characteristic properties:

  • Relatively low density compared with steel or nickel-based alloys (approx. factor 2)
  • High specific strength
  • Good corrosion resistance to oxidizing media
  • Very good biocompatibility

Tool steels

Tool Steel 1.2709-A LMF

The tool steel 1.2709-A LMF is a pre-alloyed powder which has been designed and tested for the production of components on TruPrint systems. The composition of parts built up using this powder corresponds to the maraging tool steel 1.2709 (DIN X3NiCoMoTi 18-9-5) in line with the US standard AISI 18Ni (300) Maraging Steel. Components made from this steel are easy to process and can be polished to a high quality. They also have good thermal conductivity.

Characteristic properties:

  • High strength and hardness
  • Very good weldability
  • Relatively low carbon content (0.03%)
  • Formation of relatively soft and ductile martensite
  • Hardening through precipitation of intermetallic phases (Ni3(Mo,Ti) and Fe2Mo)

Typical applications:

  • Parts subject to high mechanical loads

  • Tool construction (e.g. tool inserts, molds)

Tool Steel 1.2709-B LMF

The tool steel 1.2709-B LMF pre-alloyed powder has been designed and tested specifically for use on the TruPrint 3000. The composition of parts created using this powder corresponds to the maraging tool steel 1.2709 (DIN X3NiCoMoTi 18-9-5) in line with the US standard AISI 18Ni (300) Maraging Steel.
