HS-LMD uses the same technique as conventional laser cladding to weld the layers to the substrate. Due to very high process speeds and the associated rapid cooling, higher material strength levels are achieved. Even difficult-to-weld materials like cast iron can be processed, making it ideal for coating of brake discs. The defined limit values for brake abrasion set by the Euro-7-Norm can be reached.
