Automated bending

– exactly when you want it

The Flex Cell with TruBend 7050 combines the best of both worlds: The TruBend 7050 is a full-fledged manual bending machine that, when combined with the Flex Cell, can be expanded into an automated bending cell for small parts in about 20 minutes, if needed. If you have suitable components on hand, are short-staffed, or need to run production without operator intervention for an extended period, simply attach the mobile robot cell and let it run automatically for as long as you need - without any long-term commitment. However, experience shows that once you have automated a process, you will rarely want to do without the Flex Cell.

With the Flex Cell, you can operate the TruBend 7050 manually or automatically. The mobile robot cell can be connected and disconnected in just a few minutes. This makes it easy to transition to automated manufacturing while continuing to operate the machine manually as needed.

Program faster while the machine continues to bend
Program faster while the machine continues to bend

TecZone Bend generates a suggested bending program from 2D or 3D data in seconds, whether in the office or directly at the machine. You can amend it at any time, for example, if you want to use different tools, grippers, or gripping points. Real-time collision checks immediately show how changes affect the bending process. This eliminates the need for time-consuming and tedious recalculations and significantly reduces programming time. This makes it possible to automate even small lot sizes cost-effectively.

Extend autonomous production - even across multiple shifts
Extend autonomous production - even across multiple shifts

Make the most of every production shift: Thanks to its high loading capacity, the Flex Cell processes up to 2,500 parts almost autonomously. This makes it possible to produce during additional shifts or even at weekends.

Compact production - in less than 10 m2 of space
Compact production - in less than 10 m2 of space

With a footprint of less than 10 m², the combination of Flex Cell and TruBend 7050 takes up only about half as much space as a single-car garage. This makes it suitable for many production facilities and enables automation even in spaces where every square meter counts.

Everything you need to get through each day

– because the right equipment makes all the difference

You decide which features your manufacturing process needs. TRUMPF provides the right equipment. Standard and optional features assist with programming, set up, part quality, and material flow. They speed up processes, reduce errors, and ensure the machine runs smoothly.

Creates bending programs from 2D or 3D data at your desk or at a separate workstation while the machine continues to produce. This ensures that no valuable production time is lost when programming the next parts.

Automatically moves the lower tool back and forth. This makes it easier to combine tools for folds or Z-bends with other tools. This saves setup time and investment costs for special tools, increases the variety of parts that can be produced, and makes the machine versatile.

Hydraulically clamps the upper and lower tools into the machine at the push of a button. This allows tools to be inserted and changed quickly and safely, while reducing manual steps to a minimum.

Displays the next setup and bending steps via an LED display directly on the tool clamp. This allows tool stations to be set up more quickly and helps prevent errors.

Offers the greatest positioning flexibility for complex and asymmetrical parts. This allows for the reliable clamping of irregular shapes and complex components.

Takes non-contact measurements of the bending angle directly on the component and automatically corrects material deviations. This ensures that the angle fits perfectly from the first part, even with variations in the material batch or sheet thickness.

Measures the bending angle of the part using tactile sensor disks integrated in the tool and automatically corrects material deviations. This ensures that the angle fits perfectly right from the first part, even with short flange lengths, varying material batches or sheet thicknesses, and components that are difficult to access.

Allows the next batch of raw parts to be prepared while the Flex Cell continues production. The loading and unloading cart can be loaded directly at the Flex Cell or during the preceding laser cutting or punching operations. Bolts that can be positioned freely on the perforated plate allow for various stacking configurations. This ensures raw parts for the next order are ready in no time.

Automatically and gently transports components that are difficult to stack or prone to scratching out of the bending cell without interrupting production. Two versions available - depending on the component size and space required for finished parts.

Tools that fit into the system

– tailored to the machine, software, and bending process

TRUMPF bending tools are not only tailored to the machine and software, but are also digitally integrated into them. Stored tool data makes programming and set up easier for you. Laser-hardened surfaces ensure the tools are durable and help maintain consistent part quality. We will provide you with the right tool for your application, either from our standard product line or as a custom-made product. You can order or request both of these 24/7 through the MyTRUMPF E-Shop.

ALL TOOLS
Standard tools
Standard tools

For recurring bending tasks, TRUMPF offers an exceptionally broad portfolio of standard tools, many of which are available in a variety of common designs on short notice. This also includes specially developed solutions for specific requirements, such as dies with wear-resistant inserts or tools for mark-free bending. This will ensure you can find a solution even for bending tasks for which other suppliers do not offer comparable tools in their standard product range. At the same time, the tool data is stored digitally in the machine and software, thus simplifying programming and set up.

Special tools
Special tools

If standard tools are not sufficient for your bending part, we will develop the appropriate special tool and provide the tool data for the machine and programming at the same time. Upon request, we can test the tool in advance directly on your sheet metal, thus taking specific material properties into account.

Sensor tools
Sensor tools

When high angular accuracy is required, sensor tools take measurements directly during the bending process and automatically correct deviations. With an angular accuracy of ±0.3°, they are particularly well-suited for precision bending and small flanges, where optical measurement reaches its limits. This reduces rework and rejects, which is particularly beneficial during series production.

CDW bending tools
CDW bending tools

TRUMPF has developed the CDW (Consistent Die Width) standard die series for short flanges, delicate surfaces, and frequently changing bending operations. The special die geometry, with rounded entry radii, allows flanges to be up to 25% shorter and facilitates angle measurement with angle sensor ACB. At the same time, the sheet metal slides into the die more easily. This reduces marks and protects the bending film. Consistent die widths also make it possible to combine different CDW lower tools during setup, thus reducing tool changes and setup times.

Bending tools with a lightweight design
Bending tools with a lightweight design

When manual tool changes are frequent, lightweight bending tools reduce the operator's workload and make set up easier. They weigh more than 30% less than standard upper tools, but offer the same load capacity and precision. For tool lengths up to 300 mm, the Safety-Click mechanism further simplifies assembly and reduces setup time.

ZN coating
ZN coating

When bending aluminum or galvanized sheet metal, material debris can accumulate on the tool and cause marks on subsequent parts. The LASERdur AL coating for aluminum and the LASERdur ZN coating for galvanized sheet metal protect against such buildup and ensure good sliding properties. This reduces indentations and ensures consistently accurate bending results. In addition, the coated tools are corrosion-resistant and do not need to be cleaned.

The Flex Cell with TruBend 7050 in action

– for automated small part production

Whether profiles, boxes, panels, or functional components: These examples show how the TruBend 7050 with Flex Cell automatically bends small parts in large quantities.

Bending hose protection profiles

Bending hose protection profiles

The hose protection must reliably protect hydraulic hoses from damage. To ensure that it can be assembled properly, the individual bends must be exactly 90°, and the surfaces must fit together precisely.

ACB Laser measures the bending angle directly on the part and automatically corrects deviations. This results in precisely fitting hose protection profiles with surfaces that fit snugly and can be installed reliably - even during the automated production of series parts.

Bending housings for electrical switches

Bending housings for electrical switches

Small switch housings protect electronic components from contact and dirt. To ensure that the corner joint can be formed properly, the cut, angle, and position of the component must be precise.

The operator first loads the part manually and precisely adjusts the length, angle, and position of the bends. After that, the Flex Cell can continue the process automatically and manufacture the housing with repeatable precision, even over extended runs. The corner joint fits securely.

Bending covers for piezo igniters

Bending covers for piezo igniters

A cover protects an electronic component, such as a piezo igniter, from dirt and contact. The part is very small and has open angles that are not 90 degrees. As a result, the operator must position the component precisely for each bending step.

The 6-axis backgauge offers a high degree of positioning flexibility and ensures a reliable stop position for small, complex parts. This allows open angles to be prepared with precision and bent with repeatable accuracy.

Bending mounting parts for electrical components

Bending mounting parts for electrical components

Mounting parts for electrical components are well-suited for use with grippers or suction cups due to their base. To ensure clean corners and precise outside dimensions, the very first bend must be just right, regardless of the rolling direction or sheet metal batch. If the operator manufactures such parts by hand, the work quickly becomes monotonous and time-consuming.

ACB Laser measures the bending angle directly on the component and automatically compensates for deviations. The Flex Cell takes over parts handling and automatically manufactures fasteners. This results in precisely fitting parts of consistent quality, while reducing repetitive manual labor.
