High-tech company TRUMPF Hüttinger turns 100

The Freiburg-based generator manufacturer provides process energy to industries with a bright future, including the chip sector // Anniversary celebrations on June 2, 2022

Ditzingen, June 2, 2022 – This year marks an important anniversary for the electronics subsidiary of machine maker and laser specialist TRUMPF. In 1922, electrical engineer Fritz Hüttinger founded a company in Freiburg to manufacture electrical equipment. Now, a century later, the TRUMPF electronics subsidiary is a market leader in a wide array of high-tech generators. Their many and varied applications include supplying power to industrial lasers, generating plasma to fabricate semiconductors, and harnessing the electricity produced by photovoltaic cells. The company’s high-tech products also play an essential role in medical equipment such as computed tomography scanners.

TRUMPF Hüttinger has been part of the TRUMPF Group for over 30 years. Some 500 people are employed at its facility in Freiburg, and just over 700 at its plant in Warsaw. Its revenue in this fiscal year is expected to exceed 300 million euros.

“Our electronics division in Freiburg and Warsaw is a key component of the TRUMPF portfolio and a very important part of our business. It has a great future in the semiconductor fabrication industry and in the harnessing of renewable energies. But, on top of the business aspects, I’m also delighted to see such close ties being forged between Germany and Poland through our collaboration in the field of electronics,” says TRUMPF CEO Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller.

Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, sees the anniversary celebrations as an important step for the region: “It’s a fantastically positive sign for Baden-Württemberg’s status as a business location to see a high-tech company like TRUMPF Hüttinger celebrating its 100th anniversary. As a leading provider of process energy technologies such as plasma and induction generators, TRUMPF Hüttinger is an important subsidiary of the well-known Ditzingen-based company TRUMPF. It supplies some of this country’s most important industries with superb, high-quality products. My congratulations to the company for reaching its 100th anniversary, and I hope it continues to be successful long into the future!”

The official anniversary celebrations will take place at SC Freiburg’s new Europa-Park Stadium on June 2, 2022, with special guests from the worlds of politics and business as well as customers and suppliers. On June 3, TRUMPF Hüttinger employees will celebrate the anniversary at their respective sites.

The company’s success story began in 1922. Today, TRUMPF Hüttinger employs some 1,200 people worldwide, including around 400 at its headquarters in Freiburg.

TRUMPF Hüttinger continues to manufacture and distribute its generators in Freiburg, as well as at six other international locations, including Poland.
