Precision microprocessing

– Flexibly tailored to material and application

With the TruMicro Series 2000, you can precisely process copper, ceramics, glass, or films - even if the materials are temperature-sensitive or extremely thin. To this end, it offers two wavelengths: Green laser light, for example, is absorbed particularly well by copper and can be focused more precisely - for efficient processing with low heat input and precise structures. The infrared wavelength is particularly well-suited for ceramics and glass. Pulse energy, pulse duration, and pulse repetition frequency can be flexibly adjusted to suit the specific application - thus tailoring the laser precisely to different processing tasks.

What sets the TruMicro Series 2000 apart

– Your special features at a glance
Precise down to the point - thanks to excellent beam quality
Precise down to the point - thanks to excellent beam quality

The excellent beam quality of the TruMicro Series 2000 enables exceptionally small focal diameters for the finest structures and components. At the same time, the high pointing stability keeps the laser beam in a reproducible position, ensuring consistently precise results. The result: clean edges with minimal residue and burrs - perfect for demanding applications, such as in medical technology.

Flexible for any task - with precisely controllable pulse parameters
Flexible for any task - with precisely controllable pulse parameters

You can flexibly adjust the pulse energy, pulse duration, and pulse repetition frequency to suit the material and application. Each individual pulse is energetically stabilized, ensuring reproducible results. With short pulse durations in the femtosecond range, you can keep heat input low; with longer pulses in the picosecond range, you can precisely process the interior of transparent materials, for example. The pulse repetition frequency can also be adjusted during the process - for example, to match the feed rate of the processing optics.

Depending on the application, you can determine how the laser emits its pulses: from individual ultrashort pulses to high pulse repetition frequencies in quasi-continuous-wave (QCW) mode. In burst mode, you combine multiple ultrashort pulses into a compact pulse train and precisely control their timing and energy distribution. For example, this allows you to melt surfaces in a controlled manner or ablate material more efficiently. Particularly when working with metals, this opens up additional possibilities to specifically tailor the machining process to the relevant application.

Gentle machining - thanks to ultrashort pulsing
Gentle machining - thanks to ultrashort pulsing

The TruMicro Series 2000 uses ultrashort pulses that deliver their energy into the material in an extremely short amount of time. This results in virtually no heat-affected zone, enabling cold machining without deformations, burn marks, or time-consuming rework. At the same time, each individual pulse removes material in a targeted manner without energy accumulating in the component. This allows you to control material removal with precision and achieve consistently reproducible results. This method allows even strongly reflective materials, such as copper or transparent materials, to be processed reliably.

Clean along every contour with an adjusted pulse repetition frequency

With Advanced Pulse on Demand, the TruMicro Series 2000 triggers each laser pulse exactly when it is needed. This function keeps the pulse interval constant even when the feed rate changes - for example, in curves where the laser beam is guided more slowly. This prevents pulses from overlapping and allows them to be precisely placed along the desired contour with a spatial resolution down to the submicrometer range. This also ensures consistent, reproducible results even for short, complex contours with frequent changes in speed and direction -such as extremely fine recesses like display notches.

Further advantages

  • Easy integration without complex beam guidance

With the optional hollow-core fiber, you can easily integrate the lasers into any modular system - either in a vertical or horizontal position. To do so, you do not need granite blocks for stabilization or mirrors for beam guidance. Sensors in the hollow-core fiber detect deviations and can stop the laser. This enhances the safety of your system.
  • Available at short notice - worldwide

High production capacities ensure that the TruMicro Series 2000 is available worldwide at short notice. This allows you to flexibly plan the expansion of existing machines or the installation of new machines. If needed, the global TRUMPF service team is available to assist you around the clock.

The TruMicro Series 2000 in action

– What you can expect

Whether drilling, ablation, texturing, or cutting: With the TruMicro Series 2000, you can handle a wide variety of microprocessing tasks. This opens up a wide range of applications - from products for the electronics and consumer goods industries, through to medical technology and the automotive industry, and semiconductor production.

Machining delicate plastics

Machining delicate plastics

In the case of plastics, such as separator films for batteries, excessive heat exposure can cause scorch marks or cause the material to carbonize.

With Advanced Pulse on Demand, the TruMicro Series 2000 lasers continuously adjust the pulse repetition frequency to match the processing speed, thus keeping the heat input to a minimum. This allows you to take full advantage of cold processing with ultrashort pulsing, even with tight contours and varying process speeds.

Cutting glass cleanly

Cutting glass cleanly

When cutting glass for foldable displays, for example, you need smooth cut edges with low surface roughness, which often requires time-consuming rework afterwards.

With TruMicro Series 2000 lasers and our TOP Cleave optics, you can modify the cutting edge in a single pass at speeds of up to several meters per second. This results in a surface roughness of < 1 µm, so no rework is necessary.

Paper-thin film cutting

Paper-thin film cutting

Cutting ultra-thin battery films quickly and cleanly is a challenging task: Burrs can form along the cutting edges, and when working with copper, reflections can also cause thermal damage.

The lasers in the TruMicro Series 2000 minimize heat input with ultrashort, high-energy pulsing. This enables you to cleanly cut even the thinnest materials and avoid burning or tearing. This extends the service life of the products and reduces your material costs.

Creating high-contrast, corrosion-resistant markings

Creating high-contrast, corrosion-resistant markings

Even the finest markings on metal components should be precise, burr-free, and high-contrast. Furthermore, jet-black markings must remain clearly legible from every angle, without requiring a complex passivation process to maintain the material's corrosion resistance.

The ultrashort laser pulses create a non-tactile surface structure on the nanometer range, which ensures high contrast of the marking when viewed from different angles. At the same time, the low heat input keeps the thermal stress on the material to a minimum, ensuring that the corrosion resistance of material such as stainless steel is maintained.
