New Slat Care Liquid Supports Maintenance of Laser Cutting Machines

TRUMPF introduces a slat care liquid // Reduces slag formation // Minimizes slag adhesion // Speeds cleaning of slats

Farmington, Conn., November 5, 2026 – TRUMPF's slat care liquid is now available in North America. The treatment is designed to reduce slag formation and adhesion on laser cutting machine support slats.

“Companies with laser cutting machines are familiar with this problem: slag accumulates on the edges of the support slats and build-up can impair the quality and cleanliness of the cut components,” explains TRUMPF Inc. Head of Power Tools Ian Rothman. “As a general rule, it is important to clean slats regularly.”

Simple and Effective Slat Care

Operators spray the liquid onto new or cleaned slats with a compressed-air spray gun from approximately 12 to 20 inches away. Application takes a few minutes and leaves a thin protective film that acts as a barrier between the slat and the slag. Laser processing can begin immediately afterward.

The liquid is suitable for slats made of mild steel or copper and can be used with common cutting materials, including on high-power laser cutting machines.

Liquid Works With Slat Cleaner Tools

The slat care liquid is designed for use with TRUMPF’s TruTool TSC 100 and TSC 200 slat cleaners. TRUMPF recommends the TSC 100 for standard slag on CO₂ and solid-state 2D laser systems below 10 kW. The TSC 200 is intended for medium- to high-power CO₂ and solid-state systems above 6 kW, and for hard slag on high-power fiber lasers.

To clean the cutting bed, the operator places the selected tool on a slat, switches it on, and guides it across the row with light pressure. The operator then pulls the tool back, moves it to the next row of slats and repeats the process.
