INTECH press conference: "We want to be the leading supplier of AI solutions in our industry."

T RUMPF will continue to expand its position in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). But what opportunities to increase production efficiency does this approach offer? How is Germany positioned compared to the international competition? And how should companies best approach the topic of AI? Stephan Mayer, CEO Machine Tools at TRUMPF, Hagen Zimer, CEO Laser Technology at TRUMPF and Sepp Hochreiter, AI pioneer and Professor of Bioinformatics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, will discuss these issues at TRUMPF's official press conference as part of the INTECH in-house trade show.

Stephan Mayer is convinced of the opportunities offered by AI in the sheet metal world: "Digitalization and AI go hand in hand. As a leading provider of networked manufacturing, we at TRUMPF also want to establish a market-leading position in the field of AI. For our customers, this means productivity and efficiency gains along the entire sheet metal process chain - regardless of the size of the company." His Managing Board colleague, Hagen Zimer, also sees great potential in AI for laser technology: "AI is highly strategically relevant for TRUMPF. Analyzing sensor data with the help of AI algorithms enables better solutions for our customers."

It's not about the best machine, but about all the things around it

Sepp Hochreiter appeals to German machine manufacturers to finally wake up. "Don't screw it up," he said five years ago at the Hannover Messe. The machine building sector is blind, and does not keep in constant contact with its customers like Facebook or Apple, nor does it not analyze their data, if it has it at all. At the TRUMPF press conference, he emphasized the fact that this wake-up call still applies. Although mechanical and systems engineering is doing very well in the southwest of Germany, it is not necessarily about building the best machine today, but about building things around it. He is keeping a close eye on what is happening in this area - and is enthusiastic about TRUMPF: "They are doing a very good job!"
