Sensor systems for welding

Not all welding is the same. The more demanding the material, geometry, and quality requirements, the more factors must be mastered simultaneously – precise beam positioning, the required weld geometry, a constant power and focus position, and the correct temperature. And much of it is decided in places invisible to the naked eye. This is exactly where our sensor systems come in, as each one is designed for one of these tasks, and together they cover the entire process. They store the measurements and control data for each component. This results in reproducible welding processes that are fully documented. Because TRUMPF's sensor systems, optics, and lasers work together, there is no need for external interfaces – which reduces potential sources of error and shortens commissioning.

VisionLine for welding

Image processing and optical coherence tomography

Keeps track of position and seam: assists with setup, automatically detects the components, and monitors weld depth and seam geometry.

CalibrationLine

Measurement and calibration systems for laser beam characteristics

Maintains constant laser parameters: monitors laser power and focus position and automatically corrects deviations as required.

Temperature control

Pyrometer-based temperature measurement and control

Ensures the correct temperature: measures the surface temperature and adjusts the laser power to the set value – during laser hardening and plastic welding.
