Large-scale microprocessing

– with 1 kW laser power

The TruMicro Series 9000 achieves 1 kilowatt of laser power - a world first in the ultrashort pulse range. Combined with the high pulse repetition frequency, this enables microprocessing over large areas. Using appropriate scanners, you can distribute the pulsing across the component at speeds of up to one kilometer per second, thus converting the high pulse repetition frequency into correspondingly high processing speeds. Alternatively, the high laser power can be distributed across multiple processing areas using beam splitters or beam-shaping elements. This enables you to scale processes such as structuring, cleaning, removal, or cutting cost-effectively down to the square-meter range.

Micro-finishing large surfaces - up to the square-meter range

With a laser power of 1 kW. that is unmatched anywhere in the world in the ultra-short-pulse range, you can process workpieces at speeds never before achieved. This makes microprocessing cost-effective even on large surfaces - up to the square-meter range. This enables you to increase throughput in your manufacturing process and make microprocessing a viable option even for applications where it was previously out of the question.

Different processes using a single laser source
Different processes using a single laser source

The TruMicro Series 9000 offers both pulse energies of up to 10 millijoules and high pulse repetition frequencies. This allows you to use a single laser source to handle different process steps within the same system: high pulse repetition frequencies for fast processes and high pulse energies for applications requiring high energy, such as those involving brittle, hard materials. This means you do not need multiple laser sources for different applications.

Perfect for high-speed production lines, including roll-to-roll processes
Perfect for high-speed production lines, including roll-to-roll processes

Because they achieve high processing speeds, the TruMicro Series 9000 lasers are perfect for roll-to-roll processes in which large-area substrate materials, such as plastic and metal films, or thin glass, are continuously unrolled, processed, and rewound.

Consistent results - even during continuous industrial operation
Consistent results - even during continuous industrial operation

With the TruMicro Series 9000, you can achieve consistent results even under demanding production conditions. The high beam quality of M² = 1.2 ensures uniform energy input and stable pulsing for reproducible processes. You can rely on the laser even during continuous operation: electronics, amplification, and beam guidance are based on proven modules from the TRUMPF ultrashort pulse laser series.

Clean along every contour with an adjusted pulse repetition frequency
Clean along every contour with an adjusted pulse repetition frequency

With Advanced Pulse on Demand, the TruMicro Series 9000 triggers each laser pulse exactly when it is needed. This function keeps the pulse interval constant even when the feed rate changes - for example, in curves where the laser beam is guided more slowly. This prevents pulses from overlapping and allows them to be precisely placed along the desired contour with a spatial resolution down to the submicrometer range. This also ensures consistent, reproducible results even for short, complex contours with frequent changes in speed and direction -such as extremely fine recesses like display notches.

Further advantages

  • Safe and reliable with PLe

The lasers in the TruMicro Series 9000 meet the highest safety Performance Level e (PLe). Redundant safety systems and fast error detection increase your safety in production - without additional measures on the laser.

The TruMicro Series 9000 in action

– What you can expect

The TruMicro Series 9000 delivers high precision and speed for demanding cutting, micro-processing, and surface treatment applications - even on large areas and in 24/7 industrial operations. This makes it suitable, for example, for the manufacture of semiconductors, batteries, and fuel cells, as well as for applications in the air and space industry.

Quickly process films, wafers, and displays

Quickly process films, wafers, and displays

The processing speed is a key factor in determining cost-effectiveness for large-area materials such as films, wafers, paper, fabrics, or displays. Especially when working with large surfaces, the laser must operate quickly enough to achieve the required throughput.

With the high power of the TruMicro Series 9000, you can scale microprocessing to achieve high processing speeds and cover large areas. This makes even those processes cost-effective where microfine machining has not been economically viable until now.

High-speed micro-drilling

High-speed micro-drilling

You need to create a large number of extremely fine holes or structures over large areas and under tight deadlines - for example, for fine-pored filters in the food industry or for microstructures on batteries.

With a pulse repetition frequency and scanning speeds of 50 meters per second, the lasers in the TruMicro Series 9000 create microstructures at a speed unmatched in the market. For a particularly large number of holes, the laser beam can also be split using appropriate optics. This enables you to drill hundreds of small holes at once.

Selectively ablating layers

Selectively ablating layers

If you want to ablate contaminants and particles from bipolar plates for fuel cells layer-by-layer and at high-speed without time-consuming mechanical or chemical processes.

With the high pulse energy of the TruMicro Series 9000, you can remove approximately 40 square centimeters per second, significantly reducing the process time.

Targeted functionalization of surfaces

Targeted functionalization of surfaces

They must precisely structure, engrave, or clean surfaces made of various materials - such as glass, copper, gold, and ceramics -and specifically impart certain functions to them, such as an anti-glare effect.

With the ultra-short pulses of the TruMicro Series 9000, you can precisely modify surfaces and give them the desired properties. The combination of high pulse energy and energy stability makes it possible, for example, to distribute the energy over a larger area using beam-shaping elements. This allows you to achieve high processing speeds even when machining large surfaces.

Generation of secondary radiation

Generation of secondary radiation

You want to generate particles (ranging from relativistic electrons to neutrons) or short-wavelength electromagnetic radiation (ranging from deep UV to coherent hard X-ray radiation) for imaging applications, for example. At the same time, you need shorter irradiation times to achieve high throughput, as well as processes that are reproducible and stable over the long term - even during 24/7 continuous operation.

The TruMicro Series 9000 combines high pulse energy with ultrashort pulsing, thus achieving high peak intensities. This allows you to efficiently convert frequencies or generate various types of laser-plasma-induced secondary radiation. As the first ultrashort pulse laser with industrial suitability in the kilowatt power class, the TruMicro Series 9000 enables a correspondingly high throughput at the same time.
