Marking on the fly

Marking synchronised with movement

For large-scale production – even at high speeds

Marking on the fly (MOF) enables laser marking on high-throughput production lines. Markings are applied to products while in motion, with no need to stop the production line. This optimises the production process and boosts efficiency.

The process can be applied flexibly across various industries and is suitable for a wide range of applications – from marking battery foils and packaging to metal and plastic parts and electronic components. It is extremely well suited to applications requiring high speed and precision.

Optimised production

Marking on the fly allows products to be marked on conveyor belts or in rotary axes – with no need to stop the equipment.

Increased cost efficiency

In large-scale production, every tenth of a second matters – by using marking on the fly, you can optimise your production line, save time and simultaneously boost productivity.

How marking on the fly works

An encoder embedded in the production line continuously supplies the laser with information about the speed. A sensor detects the product to be marked and starts the marking process. When marking is in progress, the laser compensates for the movement of the product – even when the transport device is accelerating or decelerating. The result is perfect, distortion-free marking – even at extremely high speeds!
