TRUMPF is celebrating its 100th birthday!

This moment holds special significance for me and my fellow board members. It's a time to express our profound gratitude to our enduring customers and partners, whose loyalty has spanned a century, steadfastly supporting us through both prosperous and challenging times. Equally deserving of our appreciation are the 18,000+ dedicated employees working across more than 80 locations worldwide, who have once again poured their energy into advancing TRUMPF during the 2022/23 fiscal year. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the countless individuals who have devoted their passion and creativity to our company, which began as a 'garage factory' in Stuttgart in 1923 and has since evolved into a thriving global technology corporation.

Rather than dwelling on nostalgia, anniversaries serve as a powerful reminder to look to the future. As we draw the curtains on this anniversary year, this annual report is dedicated to the milestones in our company's history. Optimism remains a duty – a phrase that my father, drawing inspiration from Erich Kästner's famous novella "Fabian", set in the midst of the Great Depression in the late 1920s, quoted throughout his life. It applies all the more to what lies ahead in an ever-changing world.

Despite the enduring legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain challenges and the after-effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we have managed to achieve a very successful fiscal year with an (albeit reduced) order intake of 5.1 billion euros and a rising revenue of 5.4 billion euros. This achievement underscores TRUMPF's strength and adaptability. With an operating profit of 615 million euros before interest and taxes and a return of 11.5 percent, we conclude our 2022/23 fiscal year on a high note.
