Factory Gate and Device Gate connect your lasers and machines to your company network and/or the cloud. These digital, IT-secure connections can be used to call up the data and information from your devices at any time. It is an important foundation for Industry 4.0. Device Gate is the smart solution for individual devices; Factory Gate for entire device pools.

Device Gate

The Device Gate is pre-installed ex-works on your laser. All you need to do is activate it to give digital access to your laser data. Device Gate enables you to send data from your laser or your machine directly and safely to the cloud or to TRUMPF. You can take advantage of services such as Condition Monitoring. Device Gate is above all recommended when you would just like to network a single device. Factory Gate should be used for constellations with several machines.

Factory Gate

Using Factory Gate, you can network several lasers and machines digitally. You can flexibly connect all the elements in your production facility through the option of being able to install several Factory Gates in different instances of your network. You install the software solution for this on your server. This means data can be run through your systems unencrypted as everything remains within your secure network. The IT department constantly monitors the data traffic. Whenever data must be encrypted for transmission – in other words, when it leaves your company - there are several encryption technologies available, such as SSL/HTTPS. This technology means VPN-connections or open input ports are not required.

Condition Based Services

Condition Based Services are a building block for Industry 4.0 and your networked production. They consist mainly of the following elements: Factory Gate (which allows for lasers to be connected), Smart View Services, and Condition Monitoring. The objective is to increase the availability and productivity of networked laser systems, and to identify potential for savings.

No matter how networked you already are, the aim is clear: the ability to increase complexity and handle decreased lot sizes in sheet metal processing. With our solutions, we will accompany you step by step through your Smart Factory. No two paths are the same: the components are combined to create ideal solutions for your requirements.

Connect TRUMPF machines to your individual monitoring system

Most current machine tools from TRUMPF have the option of establishing OPC UA-based communication using interfaces. For older machines, we offer the OPC UA Retrofit Extension Cube. Based on your machine status data, you receive analyses in the form of dashboards along with action recommendations for faster problem-solving. This gives you transparency regarding machine status and allows you to maximise your machine availability. With the interface for the production status, for example, you receive information which can be used to detect the capacity utilisation of your machines and for processing in your individual software system.​

OPC UA: interface for your networked production

Imagine that you could comprehensively analyse your machine data. An OPC UA interface makes this possible: it connects your TRUMPF machine with your monitoring system – and paves the way for digital networking. The interface is based on OPC UA, a globally used standard for industrial communication. Based on the collected data, you gain transparency about the condition of your machine, optimise processes and avoid downtimes. Find out more about the benefits of OPC UA:


OPC UA stands for Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture. It is a manufacturer and platform-independent standard for industrial communication in Industry 4.0. It allows access to data and applications on a vertical and horizontal level. Vertical means from machines or field devices to the cloud, horizontal means from machine to machine (M2M).
It doesn't matter which operating system, application or programme language you use: as an open communication standard, OPC UA is independent. Your advantage: secure communication directly in the protocol, without additional hardware. OPC UA integrates security mechanisms for encryption, signing and authentication. In short: OPC UA offers the best conditions for networking and digitalising industry.

To whom does OPC UA belong?

OPC UA is a standard developed by the OPC Foundation. The OPC Foundation is a global organisation that works together with users and manufacturers. Its aim is to continuously improve the open standard OPC UA and adapt it to market requirements. The standard is independent of manufacturers or platforms.

How secure is OPC UA?

In terms of data security and data protection, the standard includes many security mechanisms, including electronic certificates and access rights. The German Federal Office for Security and Information Technology (BSI) certified the OPC UA standard in 2015. You do not need any additional hardware to exchange production data in compliance with data protection regulations.

What does OPC UA mean for TRUMPF?

OPC UA signals fit together semantically and can be used to implement various use cases (e.g. for monitoring your machines). The TRUMPF interfaces are standardised across all machines in the TRUMPF Group.

Connect your TRUMPF machine to your monitoring

Current TRUMPF machine tools are able to establish communication on the basis of OPC UA as standard. An Extension Cube with OPC UA retrofit option is available for older machines. This means that all TRUMPF machines can be connected to your monitoring system. You can analyse the recorded data and maximise your machine availability on this basis.

Use standardised data exchange with current TRUMPF machines

The OPC UA interface is a machine option that is best ordered directly with your new machine. Alternatively, it can be subsequently activated via remote support or by a TRUMPF service technician on site.

The OPC UA Extension Cube integrates older TRUMPF machines into your monitoring system

Machines that do not have interfaces for standardised data exchange due to their age require the OPC UA Retrofit Extension Cube. It provides the proprietary digital interfaces, even for software from third-party suppliers. The system consists of an industrial PC with an OPC UA interface. As soon as it is connected and configured, it provides the available signals for you locally.​

Do you need transparency for your entire machine pool, regardless of manufacturer or age of your machine? No problem, our Basic Connectivity Kit​ offers a solution for your production.

The Basic Connectivity Kit integrates machines from third-parties suppliers and older TRUMPF machines into Oseon Analytics

Once installed, the Basic Connectivity Kit provides signals depending on the operating status of the machine, and incredibly simply at that: "Machine is stationary without malfunction", "Machine is stationary with malfunction", "Machine is in operation". Oseon Analytics interprets this information and displays it analogous to your other machines in the dashboard. This works around the clock at all workstations in your production. Of course ,new TRUMPF machine tools are integrated into Oseon Analytics as standard.​
