e-drive concept demonstrator

Automotive TruPrint Additive Manufacturing

The demonstrator showcases the capabilities of additive manufacturing, highlighting the combination of exceptional materials and the design freedom afforded by additive manufacturing. Each winding of the copper coils is individually designed to enhance the copper fill factor of the e-drive. These designs are then printed using the TruPrint 5000 Green Edition. The use of pure copper demonstrates excellent material properties such as > 100% IACS conductivity. The housing is made of aluminium (a typical ferromagnetic material) and internally cooled to increase power. The TruPrint systems offer highly reproducible printing, and the ease of transitioning between production, such as from TruPrint 3000 to TruPrint 5000, presents a significant advantage for scaling production and reducing startup costs. The TruPrint 3000 can now produce 220 cm³ of aluminum parts per hour by using two lasers, each operating at 700 W laser power. With the addition of an extra laser, the TruPrint 5000 attains even higher values while maintaining consistent surface quality.

The conductivity of the pure copper with > 100% IACS combined with the internally cooled housing maximize the performance of parts and motor

TruPrint 3000, flexible solution for industrial 3D printing
TruPrint 3000

The TruPrint 3000 is a universal medium-format machine (LMF / PBF / LPBF) with Industrial Part and Powder Management. This means you benefit from even more flexibility, quality and productivity for your additive batch production – now also with the full-field multilaser option with two 500 watt lasers from TRUMPF. Productivity is almost doubled, independent of the component geometry, and the part costs are significantly decreased.

TruPrint 5000 Green Edition

The TruPrint 5000 Green Edition is the medium-format 3D printing system for processing reflective materials such as copper or precious metals. As such, the 3D printer opens up new opportunities for additive manufacturing of large components, induction coils or components for complex cooling applications, e.g. for power electronics and optoelectronics.
